Buster Bar Dessert

A make at home version of the infamous Dairy Queen Buster Bar.  Thanks to my mother, I have acquired quite an affection for buster bars and now I can make them at home (which really is a bad thing. . . . . they are NOT calorie free)

42 chocolate w/ vanilla icing sandwich cookies (oreos)- crushed

1/2 c. melted butter

1/2 gal vanilla ice cream softened

1 large jar chocolate fudge topping

1 c. spanish peanuts

8 oz  non-dairy whipped topping (Cool Whip), thawed

Chocolate syrup (optional drizzle for top)

Set aside 1/2 c. of the crushed cookies to sprinkle on top.  With the remaining cookies, mix them with the butter and press into a 9×13 freezer safe pan.  Carefully dip scoops of ice cream onto cookie crust and then spread them out to fill in completely.  Cover and put in freezer until solid again.

Once frozen, pour slightly warmed fudge topping onto ice cream and spread to cover.  Sprinkle on peanuts and then spread Cool Whip on top of that.  Sprinkle with set aside bowl of crushed cookies and drizzle with chocolate syrup if desired.  Freeze until ready to serve.
