Marinated Venison

1 lb venison
1 can Coca Cola (namebrand is best but any cola will do)
1 onion sliced
1/2 lb mushrooms or 1 can, drained

Slice the venison thin, cut into “stew meat” pieces or make numerous slits in the roast to allow the marinade to get in there and do its job. Place the venison and coke into a ziploc bag and refrigerate at least 2 hours or overnight. If the cut of meat is particularly tough, push onions into the slits or add onion to the marinade. When ready to cook, drain the coke off and discard (or mix with equal amounts of ketchup and simmer until reduced to thickness of bbq sauce) In lightly oiled skillet, place the onion and mushrooms. Then put in venison and pan fry slices or stew meat until done. If doing a roast, place the same in dutch oven and slow roast.

Hot Cocoa Mix- chocolate milk mix one

This is a very large batch- It’s not the recipe I used at the most recent Triple S School’s class. This one is the more typical recipe that uses “Nestle’s Quick” which makes it a slightly more expensive version. However, sometimes chocolate milk mix is found at decent prices! So, I keep both recipes on hand!

Here you go:
2 lb chocolate milk mix powder (Nestle’s Quick or equivalent)
2 lb dry powdered milk
2 lb powdered sugar
8 oz powdered coffee creamer
1/2 c. unsweetened cocoa powder

Store in an air tight container. To serve: mix 1/4 c. of mix to 1 c. hot water and stir!!
